Referee Robbie Stokes was twice denied a transfer to the Roscommon branch of the Irish Soccer Referees Society from the Longford Referees Society. The Irish Referees Association was fined €5,000 following his appeal to the Equality tribunal. Robbie said that the ‘only possible reason was discrimination against travellers especially because there is a crisis in the number of referees in the country’.
