Cork City FC launch Show Racism the Red Card

Lord Mayor Michael Ahern opened proceedings in the council chamber at City Hall for the Cork City FC launch of Show Racism the Red Card.Pupils from North Presentation and Mahon Gaelscoil attened with representatives from community groups in Cork including the Community Garda, Cork City Partnership, Ogra Chorcaigh and Foroige.Irish International Colin Healy, Bosnian national Admir Softic and new signing from Cobh Ramblers Darren Murphy were joined by Arek Zimon from Cork Polish league and Uday from Wilton United FC.Fran Gavin (Director Eircom League of Ireland) spoke on behalf of the League and explained that Cork is one of 12 clubs affiliating to Show Racism the Red Card in 2007.Adrian Desmond (Cork City FC Club Promotions Officer) said that promoting the club with people of all nationalities was a key part of the club strategy towards building support.Children from local schools were seated in the seats of councillors of Cork City Council must have been considering their two possible career options as they quizzed professional players of the club in the presence of the mayor especially with the impending election.
