Lithuanian Basketball comes to Ireland

Basketball is Lithuania’s number one sport. It is played with great passion and professionalism. This coming June, Lithuanians from all over Europe will meet in Dublin to battle it out to be the best of the diaspora.Lithuanian Association in Ireland is happy to announce the Sixth Lithuanian Basketball Tournament of Europe each time having been held in a different country. This year’s tournament is being jointly organized by Lithuanian Association in Ireland, Lithuanian Embassy in Ireland and Basketball Ireland.The Tournament will take place on June 7th in the National Basketball Arena with ten Lithuanian teams from various European countries taking part in it. This year’s event is novel in the sense that it will mark the 90th anniversary of the restoration of the Lithuanian State.The first tournament was held in Műnster, Germany in 2001. It is a major annual event aimed at Lithuanian nationals, also has become a nice tradition uniting Lithuanians from farthest corners of Europe. Not only is it intended for Lithuanians to engage in sport but also to establish links among other Lithuanian communities of Europe.
