Meath will be having its 5th Annual Intercultural Festival this yearNow in its 5th year, the festival, which will be held on Saturday 26th July from 12noon to 5pm at Claremont Stadium in Navan promises to be the most exciting and fun-packed event in the Meath social calendar. Over 2,000 people, from all walks of life and all ages, are expected to turn out for this multi-cultural family event. www.meathfestival.ieCelebrating world cultures, the festival will be host to three international events: the ever popular Min-World-Cup 5-Aside soccer tournament for men, the Mini-Olympics for children and an Meath’s Search for Talent Contest open to all age groups and anyone residing in Ireland. Along with the competitions, there will be an array of other activities including ethnic music, dance, drama, arts & crafts, food and children’s entertainment.Festival Ambassador, Paul McGrath will officially open the event and will be present throughout the day to meet the public and to hand out prizes to the competition winners.Volunteers are needed to help out on the day.The festival is organised by Meath Local Sports Partnership and RAPID Navan with assistance from Cultúr and Citizens’ Information Centre. The Festival organisers are looking for volunteers to help on the day. As a volunteer, you will be allocated a task or tasks that the organisers feel is most suitable for you on the day. You could be asked to help direct people, to assist with children’s events, to help with the talent contest or a sporting event etc. You will be given your role prior to the event together with clear instructions and any support that you would require.The Meath Festival of Cultures will attract participants and guests from Navan, Meath and the wider community. Many of those attending will not speak English as a first language, so it is important that, as a volunteer, you are sympathetic and understanding to the needs of adults and children from varying cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Volunteering is a truly rewarding and enriching role!As a volunteer you will receive training (which is compulsory) and a Volunteer Pack.Mini World Cup 5-Aside soccer tournamentThe Meath Festival of Cultures is hosting the Mini World Cup 5-Aside soccer tournament for men. The tournament will be held on 26th July beginning at 11:00am sharp at Claremont Stadium, Navan.Admission to tournament is FREE and is open to men of 18 years and above who are living in Ireland. Winners will be presented (that afternoon) with the perpetual trophy by festival ambassador Paul McGrath.Application forms can be downloaded by logging onto www.meathfestival.ie or by calling 087 759 2320.International Talent ContestThe Meath Festival of Cultures is hosting the Meath’s Search for Talent contest 2008. 1st Prize €500 worth of musical or sound equipment from MG Music Navan plus lots of other prizes.The contest will be held on 26th July beginning at 11:00am sharp at Claremont Stadium, Navan. Admission to contest is FREE and is open to all age groups and to anyone living in Ireland.
