3rd Camp report

After a long walk in the morning to Ghleann Cholmcille, we had lunch and followed that with intercultural learning iwth Russian languages, songs and dances as well as Irish and French and Indian dancing. We sang Katuysha, Kalinka and Antoishka.1st picBefore tea, some of us went to the famous Slieve Liagh cliffs, which are the highest sea cliffs in all of Europe.  One of us got sick and others were amazed a the view which is simply stunning. Our finale was a joint show with Kilcar Gaeltacht College.  Seanán translated English into Irish.  There were some great Irish dancers from Kilcar, while our camp performed Indian and Russian dancing and sung the Slovenian song about two owls getting married.  We set the tone with the Breakdancing guys, followed by Beat Box Bhim and the 5 girl singers. We can’t think of a name for both groups, but they are so fantastic that they should peform again. When the students from Kilcar left, we had a disco till after 11pm.  After a lie in on Saturday, everyone tidied their room and packed their bags before breakfast.  After breakfast, there was a packed morning of activities.  First there was the Show Racism the Red Card anti-racism workshop.  In this, we looked at what is racism and how to deal with it.2nd picAfter the workshop, we found out who are secret friends were and who had been sending us nice messages and gifts throughout the week.  This was a lot of fun. Evaluations were then completed as to how we felt about the camp and what could be improved for next year. The bus arrived at 1pm and it was very hard to leave. No one wanted to go home.  People had made great friends.  It was too hard to believe that it was time to go.  Above is a picture of us with the hostel in the background and another picture taken from the other way around.
