Show Racism the Red Card new programmes

Show Racism the Red Card has two new programmes to offer as part of our work to provide a platform of education and sport to tackle racism.  They are SRTRC Training and SRTRC Ambassadors.SRTRC TrainingWe want to increase the numbers of those in education using our DVD education pack.  We have a training course for teachers/ youth workers/ educatorsOur education resources can help educators and those working with young people to promote anti-racism culture and challenge attitudes. Our aim is to train professionals involved in both formal and non-formal education to tackle racism through education.Our training involves classroom and gym hall interactive learning on the following themes:- what is racism- how it happens- how to respond- where racism comes from- activities you can deliver in the classroom and gym hall to promote anti racism education.The classroom workshop is complemented by an online module at Training.theredcard.ie  Our website is www.theredcard.ie and the downloads section is at www.theredcard.ie/teachers.php – in the downloads section, there are sheets which are part of some activities in the pack.SRTRC AmbassadorsYou can invite SRTRC Ambassadors for a visit to your school / club.  The visit can consist of anti racism workshop as well as fun coaching activities.Session Aims

  • To educate young people about the causes and consequences of racism and to explore the various forms racism can take.
  • To empower young people to challenge racism in the communities in which they live, providing them with relevant knowledge and information to enable them to do this.
  • To help young people prepare to play an active role as citizens in an increasingly multi-cultural society.
  • To enable young people to develop good relationships and respect the differences between people, regardless of their ethnicity, faith, culture or nationality.

Our ambassadors include: Oisin Fagan (former Irish and US State boxing champion), Conan Byrne (St Patricks Athletic), Ciaran Kilkenny (Dublin footballer), Don Cowan (Longford Town) and Eleanor Mallon (Antrim Ladies football and Camogie).(Our first visit is free)Email: info@theredcard.ie for more information
