We are delighted to announce a new Refugee Solidarity Project of Show Racism the Red Card.Invite to Stakeholder Consultation for Refugee Club Welcome ProgrammeAbout the programme:Show Racism the Red Card has received a grant to support work to increase participation in sport on the part of asylum seekers and refugees. To initiate the programme of work, we are hosting a stakeholder consultation to get input so as to ensure our programme of work meets the needs of those we target.Our programme will seek to work with a number of sports clubs across different codes to engage them and those who are both asylum seekeres and refugees to include them as both participants and volunteers in sport. The aim is to develop a programme of work which has a sustained impact in terms of the integration process.There are additional barriers for those from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds to participation in sport. They include: finance (to pay for subs, gear etc), transport (to and from games etc) and connections with local communities.This programme will involve:-Introduction to asylum seekers/ refugees for clubs-Introduction to clubs for asylum seekers/ refugees-Working to increase sport participation among children from refugee backgrounds-Recruit volunteers of all backgrounds to support the programmeTime: 2-3:30pm Date: Friday 24th June 2016Place: Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7Confirm attendance to sara@theredcard.ieFunded by:
